Embodied Transcription: Recording the Gestures of Another
Embodied Transcription is a research-performance project that explores how gestures—shaped by personal and social histories—can be observed, embodied, and translated through one’s own body. Inspired by unnoticed everyday movements, such as a market vendor’s fluid gestures or a mother’s unconscious hand motions, the project investigates why certain gestures resonate with us. Five performers from diverse artistic backgrounds engage with human, non-human, and spatial gestures using their bodies as tools of recording and reflection. The project invites audiences to reimagine bodily memory as a site of encounter, interpretation, and shared time.
